Welcome to the mymizu Open Source Web App (beta)!

You can find a link to the beta version of our mymizu Open Source Web App below. But before you take it for a test run, here’s a brief introduction to our new and exciting project!

Project Background & Goals

Since 2019, mymizu has been harnessing the power of technology and community to tackle single-use plastic waste and empower people to take action on the environment in their everyday lives. Our award-winning platform has connected people to over 200,000 points around the world where they can refill their reusable bottles, and helped hundreds of thousands of people reduce their plastic consumption and live more sustainably.

In three years, the crowdsourced, co-created platform has gained users across 45 countries, partnered with leading brands, city governments, and community groups, and triggered a movement to tackle the plastics crisis. Until now, we’ve built this movement with dedicated smartphone apps for iOS and Android, but our Open Source Web App marks a huge leap forward for mymizu.

Launched as a collaboration with an alliance of impact-driven companies and individuals, our new Open Source Web App enables us to:

  1. harness the power of community and enable anyone with software engineering skills to contribute towards building new features and tools for the mymizu platform

  2. make the mymizu platform accessible from a web browser on both PC and mobile (with key features available without having to download an app), ensuring greater accessibility for a wider range of people.

Where is it and how can I help?

You can take the beta version of our web app for a spin via the link below. (sooo exciting, we know!)

There are still some features missing, and maybe even some glitches in the code - but that’s EXACTLY why we need your help!

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Feedback: If you spot something that isn’t working, or have feedback on how we can improve the web app, please let us know via this form.

  2. Donate to support the volunteer-drive mymizu platform, which is provided for free to all, without ads or sales. Details here!

  3. Software Engineers: Join our open source community and help us! Each line of code you write has the potential to drastically reduce plastic across Japan and the many countries in which our community is active. More details at our github page.

(Psst…! If you’re interested, you can see the designs for the web app here, including some features that we haven’t been able to launch yet!)

OK so now, if you’re ready, please take our new OPEN SOURCE WEB APP for a spin!!
